Elizabeth Szybatka has her Master’s degree in Child/Adolescent Counseling Psychology from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. Elizabeth is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor- Supervisor through the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy and a Registered Play Therapist- Supervisor through the National Association for Play Therapy. Elizabeth provides direct services in the Cambridge Outpatient office and Rum River South Educational Program. She facilitates the Adolescent DBT Group in Cambridge and is the Program Director for the CTSS Skills Program.
Elizabeth has worked in the mental health field for 10 years in outpatient, in-home, and school-based settings. Elizabeth specializes in working with children who have experienced trauma, adversity, and attachment disruptions. She provides individual and parent-child therapy for children from birth through adolescence as well as individual therapy for adults.
Elizabeth utilizes a client-centered, trauma-focused approach; she believes that play is the language of children and that all children process life experiences through play and art when given the space to do so. She is trained in Experiential Play Therapy, Theraplay, Attachment Bio-Behavioral Catch Up, and Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health. She also has experience with DBT skills, art and movement therapy techniques, and sand play.
